Cloves

Cloves are the rich brown dried unopened flower. An evergreen native to Indonesia and India that grows from eight to twelve meters in height, the clove tree produces flower buds in clusters that are pale in color at first, become green, and then bright red, when they are ready for harvesting. They are  an ingredient of curry powder, widely used in Indian cooking and also in the Indian spice blend garam masala . Cloves can be found in Biryani dishes and are used to flavour  rice. A clove is both a savoury and sweet spice.
